The international ligita guitar competition has a long tradition: Winners of this competition for up and coming musicians can be found on concert stages all over the world today. At the Liechtenstein Guitar Days 2024 the 12th international ligita competition for solo guitar will be held. The first two rounds will take place online. The final will take place on Saturday, 13 July 2024, in Liechtenstein as a public concert.

Round Nr 1 online until 28 April 2024 23:59 (CET)

  • Total duration: 9 to 12 minutes 
  • The participants publish their video on Youtube until the stated deadline (for more info see rules).
  • Announcement of participants for round 2 until 12 May 2024


Round Nr 2 online until 2 June 2024 23:59 (CET)

  • Free choice of recital programme with works from at least two periods.
  • Total duration: 17 to 20 minutes
  • The participants publish their video on Youtube until the stated deadline (for more info see rules).
  • Announcement of finalists until 16 June 2024


Final round: Saturday, 13 July 2024 (Zuschg Schaanwald, public (for more info see concert program))

  • Free choice of recital programme with works from at least two periods.
  • Total duration: 27 to 30 minutes 

Registration and participation fee

Registration for the competition can be done via the registration form (registration closed) and will only be confirmed once the participant fee of € 70 per participant was received.
 

The participant fee can be claimed at the same time as a registration fee for classes. Semifinalists also receive a 25% discount and finalists a 50% discount on the entire ligita course program.

RULES

  • The participation fee is € 70 per person, to be paid when registering and will not be refunded in any case.
     

  • Musicians of all nations can participate without age limit.
     

  • The videos of the first two rounds of the competition, which will be held online, must be posted publicly on Youtube in good audio quality by the stated deadline. The recording must not contain any cuts. In the video a ligita poster (will be sent by e-mail after registration and printed by the participant) must be clearly visible.
     

  • The finalists must be present in Liechtenstein when the results are announced on Saturday, 13 July 2024 and on the following day, Sunday, 14 July 2024. 
     

  • No jury member will give points to his own students.
     

  • The jury shall assess the contestants' choice of recital programme, interpretative, stylistic and technical skills as well as stage presence. 
     

  • In each round, works from at least two different stylistic periods must be performed, including at least one original composition for classical guitar in one of the rounds. Failure to comply with this rule will result in a point deduction on the overall evaluation.

  • The scores of the music performed must be presented to the jury. 
     
  • Works need not be played by heart.
     
  • Works performed in a previous round may not be repeated in any other round.
     
  • Participants must respect the specified time limits. Exceeding the time will result in a point deduction in the overall evaluation.
     
  • All participants will acknowledge the right of the organizers to audio or video record all rounds of the competition for media or any other purposes. All corresponding rights are reserved to the Liechtensteiner Gitarrenzirkel without further claim or payment of fees. Private audio and video recordings are not permitted.
     
  • The decisions of the jury are final and not subject to appeal. 
     
  • The competition will take place if there are at least ten duos registered and is open to a maximum of 50 participants (according to first-come, first-serve of the date when participation fee was received). The Liechtensteiner Gitarrenzirkel reserves the right to cancel the competition in case of too few participants by registration deadline.
     
  • Any recourse to courts of law is excluded.
