Where the t0p guitarists meet

The association Liechtensteiner Gitarrenzirkel was founded in September 1992. The founding members Leon Koudelak, Elmar Gangl, Kurt Gstöhl, Manfred Strässer, Michael Buchrainer and Dietmar Tiefenthaler set themselves the goal of offering courses and concerts in the field of acoustic guitar in Liechtenstein. In addition, regional guitarists and young talents should be offered a performance forum and guitar builders and composers should be supported. There should be a place for everything about the guitar in the Gitarrenzirkel.

Already in the first year of its existance, the association organized the first concerts. The members of the board then continued to pursue the idea of Guitar Days in Liechtenstein and in July 1993 the first Liechtenstein Guitar Days - ligita for short - were officially opened. Among the artists and lecturers invited so far are the entire guitar stars such as David Russell, Alvaro Pierri, Leo Brouwer, Carlo Domeniconi, Aniello Desiderio, Costas Cotsiolis and Hubert Käppel, Pavel Steidl, Jorge Luis Zamora, Gruber-Maklar, the Amadeus-Duo, the Kölner Gitarrentrio, Los Angeles Guitar Quartet up to flamenco greats like Gerardo Nuñez, Paco Serrano, Merengue de Cordoba or Concha Calero. From the beginning, the courses and concerts were accompanied by exhibitions, lectures and social events.

Further information on the Liechtensteiner Gitarrenzirkel and the ligita can be found in our commemorative publication, which was published on the occasion of the 25th anniversary.
