Augustin Wiedemann

In 1992 Augustin Wiedemann won the 6th International Guitar Competition in Havana, Cuba, where he also received four special prizes (among others for the best interpretation of Spanish music). Augustin Wiedemann has performed as a soloist in the USA, South Korea, Russia, North Africa and most European countries. He has given concerts with various orchestras such as the "Members of the Munich Philharmonic" and the "Südbohmische Kammerphilharmonie Budweis". He also plays as a chamber music partner with Patricia Kopatchinskaja (violin), Johannes Erkes (viola) and since 1999 in a crossover project with the singer and guitarist Kosho. 

 

After his first two CDs, which were released by Arte Nova/Sony BMG, he released the CDs "Classic meets Soul - Live in Munich" and "Why Not" as well as "Bach meets Monk", "324" and "Symphony" with wildner records.   

 

Augustin Wiedemann taught as an assistant to Prof. Eliot Fisk at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, Austria, and was a visiting professor at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, Sweden. Since September 2011 he teaches as professor for guitar and chamber music at the Vorarlberger Landeskonservatorium in Feldkirch, Austria. He is regularly invited as a juror to important guitar competitions.
