The international ligita guitar competition has a long tradition: Winners of this competition for upcoming musicians can be found on concert stages all over the world today. Alternating with the ligita competition "Guitar Plus 1", in 2026 the Liechtenstein Guitar Days will host the solo competition for classical guitar. The first round will be held online. The semifinals and the finals will take place in Liechtenstein as a concert open to the public on Thursday, 10 July and Saturday, 12 July 2025.

Round Nr 1 online until 15 May 2026 23:59 (CET)

  • Free choice of recital programme with works from at least two periods.
  • Total duration: 10 to 12 minutes 
  • The participants publish their video on Youtube until the stated deadline (for more info see rules).
  • Announcement of participants for round 2 until 1 June 2025


Round Nr 2: Thursday, 9 July 2026 (Eschen Musicschool, public - for more info see concert program)

  • Free choice of recital programme with works from at least two periods.
  • Total duration: 18 to 20 minutes
  • Announcement of finalists on 10 July 2025


Final round: Saturday, 11 July 2026 (Eschen Musicschool, public - for more info see concert program)

  • Free choice of recital programme with works from at least two periods.
  • Total duration: 28 to 30 minutes 

Registration and participation fee

Registration for the competition can be done via the registration form (registration closed) and will only be confirmed once the participant fee of € 70 per participant was received.
 

The participant fee can be claimed at the same time as a registration fee for classes. Semifinalists also receive a 25% discount and finalists a 50% discount on the entire ligita course program.

RULES

  • Soloists of all nationalities are eligible to participate, with no age restrictions.

 

  •  No juror may evaluate their own students.

 

  • In each round, works from at least two different stylistic periods must be performed. Each round must include at least one original composition for guitar (lute) or a historical arrangement.

 

  • The video of the first round of the competition, which will be held online, must be posted on YouTube by the specified deadline, publicly accessible and in good audio quality. The recording must not contain any cuts. A ligita poster (sent by email after registration and printed out by the participant) must be clearly visible in the video.

 

  • Finalists undertake to be present in Liechtenstein when the results are announced on Saturday, July 11, 2026.

 

  • The participation fee is €70 and must be transferred before the first round of the competition; it is non-refundable under any circumstances.

 

  • The program, interpretation, style, technique, and stage presence will be evaluated.

 

  • The jury may interrupt the audition at any time.

 

  • The sheet music for the pieces played must be submitted to the jury.

 

  • No piece already played in a previous round may be repeated.

 

  • The playing times must be adhered to and will be monitored. If the time limit is exceeded, points will be deducted from the overall assessment. 

 

  • All participants acknowledge the organizer's right to take photos and make audio or video recordings of all entries and to use them. All corresponding rights are transferred to the Liechtenstein Guitar Circle without further financial claims. Private audio and video recordings are not permitted.

 

  • The jury's decisions are final and cannot be contested.

 

  • The competition will take place if a minimum of ten soloists have registered. The Liechtenstein Guitar Circle reserves the right to cancel the competition if there are too few participants at the close of registration. 

 

  • Legal recourse is excluded.
